Emergencies

When should I call 911 instead of Public Safety?

Call 911 immediately for fires, medical emergencies, crimes in progress, active threats, or any situation requiring police, fire, or ambulance response. Notify Public Safety as soon as possible afterward. Public Safety handles non-emergency campus safety matters and will coordinate with 911 responders when needed.

Parking & Traffic

Where can visitors park?

Visitor parking areas vary by building and time of day. Follow posted signage and check in at the main reception desk when you arrive. Public Safety can direct you to approved visitor spaces or you can park for free in the Elm Street Garage — ask the Patient Services Ambassador for details.

Can Public Safety help with a vehicle lockout or jump-start?

Officers may be able to assist with minor vehicle issues when staffing and policy allow. For emergencies inside a vehicle, call 911.

Visitors

Do I need an escort after hours?

After-hours access policies depend on your role and the area you need to enter. Staff and authorized visitors should check with their department or reception. Public Safety can provide escorts when policy requires.

What is your visitor check-in policy?

All visitors should sign in at the main entrance or greeter desk, present valid identification when requested, and wear any issued visitor badge while on campus. Departments may have additional screening requirements.

Campus Safety

What does the Department of Public Safety do on campus?

Public Safety officers patrol the campus, respond to calls for service, assist with escorts and lockouts, support clinical teams during behavioral or security events, and coordinate with local police, fire, and EMS when required.

General

How do I report a non-emergency issue?

Use the Non-Emergency Contact form on this website for requests such as parking concerns, lost property, escorts, or general safety questions. Do not include patient names or other protected health information (PHI). For urgent situations, call 911.

How do I report lost property?

Call Public Safety at extension 120 and we will send an officer to retrieve the item or you can drop it off at the Urgent Care Public Safety office.
